What is the purchase price for these sites?
The purchase price including the care fund is $4,100.00 for each gravesite. This represents a 10% savings. This price does not include any other services. There is an additional administrative fee of $50.00 per gravesite charged by the cemetery.
How is the current (existing) ownership demonstrated?
A ‘Statement of Fact’ is provided to the cemetery office by the current owner (a family member). A description of the family lineage is given by the family member. This statement is accepted by the cemetery management office as proof of ownership.
How are the burial rights transferred to the new owner?
Burial rights are transferred during the closing process. In general the closing process comprises these steps:
1. A purchase price is agreed upon between the owner’s agent and the purchasing party which establishes the terms of sale.
2. The “Heirs’ Release Form” is filled in completely by the owner’s agent and signed by the owner in favor of the purchasing party, notarized and provided to the purchasing party as a part of the terms of sale.
3. The new owner of ‘rights’ presents the signed, notarized “Heirs’ Release Form” to the cemetery office and pays an administrative fee of $50.00 directly to the cemetery management office.
4. The cemetery management office then provides a new “Certificate of Ownership” to the new owner.
Additional services can be provided by the cemetery staff if required by the purchasing party. i.e. telephone or personal verification of claims made by the current owner; grave site tour; and disclosure of additional services.
Are there any unusual, additional or governmental fees?
As noted above there is an additional administrative fee of $50.00 payable to the cemetery office directly.
What additional services can be purchased from the cemetery?
Additional (prepaid) services can be discussed and arranged directly with the cemetery management office. These may include advance conversion, additional burial rights, outer containment and marker.
